Football Recap: Sunrise Mountain Falls to Queen Creek in First Game of Season

Sunrise Mountain had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Queen Creek Bulldogs. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured five defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Logan Russell picked up four receiving yards and a touchdown. Elijah Mendez was his top target, picking up 29 receiving yards.

Tait Reynolds was a one-man wrecking crew for Queen Creek as he rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Quintin Miles was Reynolds' top target, picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Sunrise Mountain will head out to face off against Desert Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Queen Creek, they will welcome Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
