Baseball Recap: Bartow Comes Up Short

Bartow extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by just one run.

Bartow saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelan Elliott, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lakeland, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.

On Lakeland's side, Cooper Carbonara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Carbonara has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lakeland let Hunter Facey and Aidan Fuentes run wild. Facey went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Fuentes went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave Fuentes a new career-high. CASON BENTON was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Bartow didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 win against Lake Gibson on the 26th. As for Lakeland, they have also already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against George Jenkins on the 26th.
