Basketball Recap: Gulf Breeze Dolphins vs. Fort Walton Beach Vikings
The Gulf Breeze Dolphins pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Fort Walton Beach by a score of 65-63. Gulf Breeze was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Dolphins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hutson Rowe, who scored 23 points along with three steals. Rowe is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Roman Jackson was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.
Fort Walton Beach got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dylan Ivison out in front who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was KJ Robertson, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Gulf Breeze dropped their record down to 11-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Fort Walton Beach, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-15.
Gulf Breeze will head out on the road to square off against the Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Walton is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. As for Fort Walton Beach, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Pine Forest has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 230 points over their last four matchups.
