Recap: San Leandro Pirates vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners
The San Leandro Pirates''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Moreau Catholic, falling 35-0. While losing is never fun, San Leandro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 676th, while Moreau Catholic is ranked 334th).
Jayden Bryant was on fire for Moreau Catholic: he rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Bryant is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
San Leandro's loss was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Campolindo and 6-2 Redwood (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.2% over those games). As for Moreau Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
San Leandro will be playing at home against Castro Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Castro Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Moreau Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Tennyson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
