Basketball Recap: Del Rio Comes Up Short

Del Rio has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the United Longhorns 86-50 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Longhorns are ranked 183rd).

Alejandra Idrogo produced another solid performance shooting 69% from the field to rack up 27 points and six assists for United. The last time Idrogo's field goal percentage was this high was back in November of 2025. Another player making a difference was Katia Velazquez, who went 9-for-13 on her way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Del Rio's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for United, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-8.
