Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Eagles vs. Meridian Mustangs

The Liberty Eagles will take on the Meridian Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Liberty earned a 5-1 victory over Warren County. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Ryan Parry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Christopher Laws, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Meridian nor Fauquier made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mustangs fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meridian's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-7. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
