Basketball Game Preview: Pewitt Brahmas vs. Rivercrest Rebels

The Pewitt Brahmas will face off against the Rivercrest Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pewitt is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Bowie on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pewitt had to suffer through a 71-18 loss at the hands of Bowie. The Brahmas were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.

Meanwhile, Rivercrest had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over Detroit on Tuesday.

Pewitt better focus on containing Diana Kelley and Makayla Evans as the pair were huge in Rivercrest's win. Kelley went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six boards and five steals, while Evans went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and six boards. Those five steals gave Kelley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Tippit, who posted seven points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Pewitt and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Rivercrest, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.

Everything went Pewitt's way against Rivercrest in their previous meeting back in November of 2019, as Pewitt made off with a 53-29 victory. Will Pewitt repeat their success, or does Rivercrest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
