Basketball Recap: Upsala Takes a Loss

Upsala blew Braham out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Braham got their revenge. The Upsala Cardinals fell just short of the Braham Bombers by a score of 87-85. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in December of 2024 (75), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Upsala lost, don't look at Jack Primus. Despite the final result, he dropped a triple-double on 27 points, ten rebounds, and 12 assists. Primus' evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Samuel Laliberte, who posted 19 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Upsala smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 36 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Tyler Eklund continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Braham, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 12 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Eklund has scored at least a third of Braham's points. Tanner Doble was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Upsala moved to 4-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Braham, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Upsala didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-67 victory against Swanville on the 4th. As for Braham, they will venture away from home to square off against Pine City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Braham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 81.8 points per game this season.
