Softball Recap: Westfield Comes Up Short

Westfield was the 11-6 winner over Oakton when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rylee Schmid made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaelynn Vinaya, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Oakton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westfield will host Centreville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Oakton, they will welcome Herndon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
