Softball Recap: Lawrence County Comes Up Short

Heritage hit Lawrence County with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to the Mountaineers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lawrence County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Loyd, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Lawrence County's loss dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Heritage, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-8.

Lawrence County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Heritage, they will square off against Creek Wood on Tuesday. The Red Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Mountaineers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
