Football Game Preview: Mangum Tigers vs. Cordell Blue Devils

The Mangum Tigers will challenge the Cordell Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mangum's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Mangum's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Mooreland 50-0. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Remington Laughlin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 217 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 41 yards and one touchdown. Those four passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zeke Rogers, who picked up 121 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Mangum didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Diego Telles. Krae Manney was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Cordell had to suffer through a 62-14 loss at the hands of Wetumka. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Chieftains are ranked 23rd).

Mangum pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for Cordell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything came up roses for Mangum against Cordell in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-8 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
