There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
The Manvel offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It had all the answers against Fort Bend Marshall, winning 56 - 27. Manvel made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. The combined 83-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Big Showdown
It was a battle of top-notch squads when Mansfield (13th in the power rankings) took on Martin (25th) last week. Mansfield claimed a 27 - 16 victory over Martin. The win boosted Mansfield a satisfying nine spots in the power rankings.
Welcome
Cinco Ranch not only got the result it was looking for last game, but the team outscored its opponent Katy Taylor in every quarter. Everything went Cinco Ranch's way against Katy Taylor as it secured a 44 - 0 win. The Katy Taylor defense has struggled this season (giving up an average of 32 points per game), and Cinco Ranch took advantage of that. Thanks to its success, Cinco Ranch cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 22nd spot.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Westlake (4th in the power rankings) and Lake Travis (18th). Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Westlake beat Lake Travis 21 - 14. Westlake saw its record improve to 7-0 and its power rank jump four places as a result.
