Baseball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Jefferson Area's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

After only one run in their last game, Jefferson Area made sure to put some runs up on the board against Edgewood on Saturday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Toby Dickson was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Jefferson Area is undefeated when Dickson allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Dickson was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Dickson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tate Hudson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Hudson a new career-high. Another was Michael Riffle, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Jefferson Area is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

As of now, neither Jefferson Area nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
