Softball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-12. They lost 14-4 to the Sotomayor WILDCATS. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the WILDCATS apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

As for Sotomayor, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Sotomayor's part, Hailey Munoz looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Avery Martinez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Gabby Ramirez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Holmes is set to take on their familiar foe Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sotomayor will face off against rival Stevens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
