Mayfield is a perfect 10-0 against Las Cruces since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. If Mayfield beats Las Cruces with 16 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Mayfield put the hurt on Manzano with a sharp 16-1 win on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
While Las Cruces didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Belen last Saturday. The Bulldawgs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the seventh matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Amaya Pinedo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Erica Silva was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Cami Munda, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Las Cruces was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.
