Softball Recap: Centennial Wins High-Profile Game Against Bishop Gorman

Centennial faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Gaels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in March.

Lily Fournier tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Amanda Campos-Colon was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Campbell Cole, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Centennial and bumps their season record up to 14-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will welcome Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Bishop Gorman, they will be playing at home against Arbor View at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
