Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Firebaugh Eagles

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will challenge the Firebaugh Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Roosevelt is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering McLane just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highlanders.

Roosevelt saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rocko Portillo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Portillo hit this season.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Firebaugh challenged Liberty on Tuesday. Firebaugh lost 15-1 to Liberty. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost five in a row.

Firebaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2-1.

Roosevelt suffered a grim 28-6 defeat to Firebaugh in their previous meeting back in February of 2015. Can Roosevelt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
