Basketball Recap: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Takes a Loss

After flying high against Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas on Monday, Pinecrest Academy Cadence came back down to earth. The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars were outmatched by the Moapa Valley Pirates and fell 60-27. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-9.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aspen Larson, who posted ten points and eight boards. Larson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Audrey Hilton was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

It was another big night for Claire Cox, who went 9 for 19 on her way to 21 points along with eight boards and three steals for Moapa Valley. That makes it six consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Moapa Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bekah Jensen, who earned eight points and five steals.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-14. As for Moapa Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinecrest Academy Cadence will welcome Virgin Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Moapa Valley, they will be playing at home against Rancho at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
