Softball Game Preview: Springdale Dynamos vs. Apollo Ridge Vikings

Springdale is 0-3 against Apollo Ridge since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Dynamos will welcome the Vikings at 3:45 p.m. Neither Springdale nor Apollo Ridge posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Springdale is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against South Allegheny, falling 21-1.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Apollo Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 6-2 to South Allegheny. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mikaila Ditty put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Ditty wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jocelyn Snyder, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Springdale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Apollo Ridge, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Springdale might still be hurting after the 17-8 defeat they got from Apollo Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Dynamos avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
