Baseball Game Preview: Four Corners Coyotes vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

The Four Corners Coyotes are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Four Corners was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They had just enough and edged out IMG Academy White 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Coyotes have posted since March 12, 2024.

Cameron Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Yandriel Soto was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Four Corners is undefeated when Soto posts two or more runs, but 1-2-1 otherwise.

Meanwhile, on Thursday Santa Fe Catholic's undefeated season almost came to an end. They never let Lakeland Christian get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The Hawks' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last five contests.

The result came thanks to Jameson McGuire's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Santa Fe Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike Welling, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Santa Fe Catholic's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Four Corners, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.
