Recap: Forest Wildcats vs. Wiregrass Ranch Bulls
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Forest Wildcats had no problem doing just that on Monday. They really took it to the Bulls for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-30 victory on the road. Winning may never get old, but Forest sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Forest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ja'Niyah McCoy, who scored 19 points along with two steals. McCoy hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Taleah Jones, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Wiregrass Ranch lost, one person who can't be blamed is Claire Kelley. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tennae Cabral, who scored eight points along with four blocks.
Wiregrass Ranch struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Forest racked up 11 assists.
Forest is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Wiregrass Ranch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Forest is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Land O' Lakes at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. Forest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Land O' Lakes likes a good challenge. Wiregrass Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
