Soccer Game Preview: Research Triangle vs. Franklin Academy

Research Triangle is 0-10 against Franklin Academy since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Raptors will head out to take on the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Research Triangle has given up an average of 4.3 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Research Triangle is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Wake Prep Academy, falling 6-0.

Meanwhile, Franklin Academy strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Raleigh Charter get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. Franklin Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by four goals or more this season.

Franklin Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those four matchups. As for Research Triangle, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7-1.

Research Triangle suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Franklin Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Raptors were down 3-0.
