Preview: Golden Demons vs. Bear Creek Bears
Two dominant guards in Allie Neal and Olivia Kan are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Golden Demons will head out on the road to challenge the Bear Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Golden is ranked 137th, while Bear Creek is ranked 114th).
After soaring to a 71-point victory in their last game, Golden came back down to earth on Wednesday. They fell just short of Evergreen by a score of 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Golden has suffered yet this season.
Despite the loss, Golden saw an underclassman step up: Ashlyn Bates dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. Bates hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Carbone, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Bear Creek suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by D'Evelyn 58-31. Bear Creek's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Golden now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Bear Creek, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.
Golden came up short against Bear Creek in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 52-43. Can Golden avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
