Baseball Game Preview: Eunice Cardinals vs. Gateway Christian Warriors

Eunice has gone a perfect 4-0 against Gateway Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eunice Cardinals will take on the Gateway Christian Warriors in a tournament on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Eunice barely beat Santa Rosa the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Eunice put the hurt on Santa Rosa with a sharp 17-7 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won three in a row.

Fernando Serna made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Eunice got a massive performance out of Dyson Lord, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Lord posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Isaac Morales was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Eunice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Rosa only posted a batting average of .278.

Meanwhile, Gateway Christian had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 15-7 margin over Rehoboth Christian.

Eunice's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Gateway Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Eunice was able to grind out a solid win over Gateway Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 8-3. Will Eunice repeat their success, or does Gateway Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
