Softball Game Preview: Banning Broncos vs. Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Banning will face off against Desert Hot Springs. The Broncos will host the Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Banning is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Monday, Banning was able to grind out a solid win over Desert Hot Springs, taking the game 11-7.

Ella Leivas was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vero Flores, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Nicelle Soriano was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

Desert Hot Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Banning, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
