Basketball Recap: Osawatomie Gets the Win

Osawatomie hadn't done well against Iola recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans walked away with a 64-55 win over the Mustangs. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2025.

Jasper Sallee had another great game (as he tends to do), going 11-for-22 to rack up 30 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Jack Burchett also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Despite the loss, Iola still got an impressive performance from Nick Bauer, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Bauer has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times he's played. Keegan Hill was another key player, putting up 14 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Osawatomie and bumps their season record up to 7-1. As for Iola, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Osawatomie will square off against Burlington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Iola, they will challenge Labette County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
