Softball Recap: Platteville Comes Up Short

Platteville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Richland Center Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in April.

Kennedy Shea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

As for Richland Center, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Richland Center's side, not much got past Kyree Fischer, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Platteville off the board.

At the plate, Carley Mieden was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

As of now, neither Platteville nor Richland Center have any future games scheduled.
