Softball Recap: Vista Grande's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Vista Grande brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on the Buena Colts with a sharp 14-7 win on Wednesday. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 victory the Colts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.

Jaz Garcia was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emily McKenzie, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Garcia wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Vista Grande kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

With the win, Vista Grande broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6. As for Buena, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Vista Grande wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-2 victory against Flowing Wells on the 21st. As for Buena, they have also already played their next game, a 19-8 defeat against Cienega on the 25th.
