Softball Recap: Hackleburg Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hackleburg). They put the hurt on the Phillips Bears with a sharp 17-0 victory on Monday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Brooklyn Butler was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Saylor Cooper was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Hackleburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .684. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Hackleburg's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Phillips, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hackleburg Panthers challenge Haleyville Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Phillips, they will be playing at home against Lynn at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
