Basketball Game Preview: Dixon Bulldogs vs. Lejeune Devil Pups

The Dixon Bulldogs will face off against the Lejeune Devil Pups at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Dixon and three for Lejeune.

Dixon's tournament run continued when they took on Richlands last Monday. Dixon received a blow as they fell 56-42 to Richlands.

Despite the loss, Dixon saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jacorian Taylor went 7 of 9 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pena, who posted eight points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Lejeune came up short against Croatan on Monday and fell 87-75. While losing is never fun, the Devil Pups can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while the Cougars are ranked 88th).

Lejeune's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Dixon was taken down by Lejeune 75-45 in their previous meeting last Friday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lejeune's Devon Charles, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine boards.
