St. Thomas More had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Panthers. The Sabers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was St. Thomas More who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 18-25, 15-10.

St. Thomas More got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Humphrey out in front who had six digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Lucy Greta, who had eight digs and one assist.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Thomas More was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.

St. Thomas More's victory bumped their record up to 21-8. As for Paxton-Buckley-Loda, they dropped their record down to 10-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, St. Thomas More and Paxton-Buckley-Loda will both be playing Athens the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Sabers will play them later in the day, at 10:00 a.m.
