Volleyball Recap: Smithville Takes a Loss

After flying high against Okolona on Tuesday, Smithville came back down to earth. The Seminoles fell 3-1 to the Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

Brooklyn Lockhart paced Smithville's offense, picking up six kills. Lockhart got some help from Rylee Cantrell and her 12 assists. Cantrell was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Smithville's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Smithville has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Ingomar on the 22nd. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against West Lowndes on the 22nd.
