Basketball Recap: Mercy Mcauley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Depaul Cristo Rey

It's playoff time, and Mercy McAuley had no trouble coming through when it counted. They really took it to DePaul Cristo Rey for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-13 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-5.

Mercy McAuley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordyn Leary out in front who went 6-for-11 to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Leary a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Haley Murphy, who posted ten points along with five assists and four steals.

Mercy McAuley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The win was the third in a row for Mercy McAuley, bringing their record for this year to 10-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.7 points over those games. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Mercy McAuley will take on Archbishop Alter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. DePaul Cristo Rey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
