Coronado came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Caprock Longhorns with a sharp 13-2 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

The team relied heavily on Zac Long, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Jaden Lira was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Coronado's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Caprock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-24.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coronado beat the Longhorns by a score of 17-0 on Saturday.
