Baseball Game Preview: St. Clair Saints vs. Utica Chieftains

For the second straight game, St. Clair will face off against Utica. The Saints will welcome the Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Clair was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Utica 7-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Saints as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

For Utica's part, Emillio Oddo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Oddo also scored two runs, which is notable because the Chieftains are 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jimmy Lasceski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The victory got St. Clair back to even at 5-5. As for Utica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.
