Baseball Recap: Croatan Takes a Loss

Croatan was the 4-2 winner over West Carteret when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Player #6 and Cole Walters did some serious damage despite the final result: Player #6 went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Walters got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases. Noah Cox also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Croatan's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for West Carteret, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Croatan will take on Martin County at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. The Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Carteret, they will square off against Person at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season.
