Basketball Recap: Neches Extends Winning Streak to Five

Neches had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 64-51 victory over the Brook Hill Guard. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2018.

Zuzanna Majchrzak and Indeya Williams certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Majchrzak went 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points and five steals, while Williams went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points and four steals. What's more, Majchrzak also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mylee Booth, who posted nine points.

Neches' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Brook Hill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 16 games and leaves them with a 28-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neches will take on Malakoff at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Malakoff's defense has only allowed 28 points per game this season, so Neches' offense will have their work cut out for them. Brook Hill has already played their next game (against Brighter Horizons Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
