Baseball Recap: Waukesha South Comes Up Short

Waukesha South fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Waukesha West on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 3-2. The Blackshirts have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Cooper Wiltz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Waukesha South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonas Heibler, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Michael Petfalski was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Waukesha South's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Waukesha West, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-7.

Coming up, Waukesha South will venture away from home to take on Catholic Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Waukesha West, they will host Cambridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
