The John Glenn Little Muskies will be taking part in a tournament against the Maysville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. John Glenn has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 28.
Tri-Valley hit John Glenn with a six-run second inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Little Muskies came up short against the Scotties, falling 14-3.
John Glenn saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zane Townsend, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Maysville hadn't done well against River View recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Panthers skirted past the Black Bears 10-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
BRYCE FISHER made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Maysville is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-13 otherwise. FISHER was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, KALE RILEY was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Maysville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for John Glenn, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
John Glenn took their victory against Maysville when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Little Muskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
