Basketball Game Preview: Bland County Bears vs. George Wythe Maroons

Bland County hasn't had much luck against George Wythe recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bland County Bears will head out to square off against the George Wythe Maroons at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Bland County took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 68-66 win over Grayson County.

Meanwhile, George Wythe had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Wednesday. They walked away with a 68-56 victory over the Pioneers.

George Wythe pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.7 points over those games. As for Bland County, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Bland County was taken down by George Wythe 82-24 when the teams last played back in January. Can Bland County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
