Baseball Recap: Prairie View Continues Road Dominance on Saturday

While Prairie View's victory against Fruita Monument wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Prairie View Thunderhawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Fruita Monument Wildcats 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Thunderhawks in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Favi Gaeta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Jerry Stone was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Prairie View's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fruita Monument, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Prairie View will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Denver East at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fruita Monument, they will welcome Vista PEAK Prep at 12:30 p.m. on March 15th.
