League recap: No. 1 Nansemond River takes down No. 2 Western Branch

AAA Southeastern league recap: 5/7/12

In the ongoing battle for first place, Nansemond River beat Western Branch this week, 4-1 on May 4, 2012. Nansemond River is now in first place at 15-2 in AAA Southeastern and 15-2 overall.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to the Warriors (15-2, 15-2), undefeated over their last nine games. Four of those wins came in the past week, includinga 4-1 victory over Western Branch and a 15-0 win over King's Fork.

Deep Creek's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 18 hits and 10 walks, both of which led the league. The Hornets have given up a mere 150 hits on the year in addition to compiling 82 strikeouts. Seth Winslow is the leader in that category with 51 Ks on the season.
