Basketball Game Preview: Ridgemont Golden Gophers vs. Riverdale Falcons

The Ridgemont Golden Gophers will head out to face off against the Riverdale Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgemont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Riverdale likes a good challenge.

Ridgemont is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with an 85-72 victory over Mt. Gilead last Saturday. Given the Golden Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Indians are ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Riverdale posted their closest win since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They skirted past Hardin Northern 53-50. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.

Riverdale has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Ridgemont, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Ridgemont against Riverdale in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 78-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgemont since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
