Softball Recap: Musselman Has No Trouble Against Hampshire

Musselman came out on top against Hampshire on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Applemen were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Trojans. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Lily Shank was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Bennett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miley Rutherford, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Musselman's victory bumped their record up to 6-10-1. As for Hampshire, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Musselman will venture away from home to square off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hampshire, they will welcome Bridgeport at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
