Softball Recap: East Central Hornets vs. Wayne County War Eagles

In what's become a running theme this season, East Central gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wayne County War Eagles as the East Central Hornets made off with a 13-6 victory. The win was familiar territory for East Central who now have five in a row.

Abbie Huff looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Bree Phillips was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Baleigh Tullos, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

On Wayne County's side, Annaston Tate was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Wayne County was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with five doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Central only hit two.

East Central's victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Wayne County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10-1.

East Central will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Gautier at 6:30 p.m. Gautier is coming into the game with seven straight losses on the road, meaning East Central will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Wayne County, they will face off against Northeast Lauderdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
