Basketball Recap: Louisburg Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Louisburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs on Wednesday as the Louisburg Warriors made off with a 57-35 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

CHLOE ARRINGTON was her usual excellent self, going 11-for-25 on her way to 28 points and six boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Louisburg's points. The team also got some help courtesy of TAMIYA MAYO, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Louisburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Durham School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Faith Yon went 10-for-23 to rack up 24 points.

Louisburg has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points over those games. As for Durham School of the Arts, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Louisburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-56 loss against Carrboro on the 7th. As for Durham School of the Arts, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-23 defeat against Vance County on the 7th.
