Softball Game Preview: Aledo Bearcats vs. Midway Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bearcats take on the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aledo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Midway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Aledo picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against McKinney by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.

TAYLOR MCKEAN looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aledo got a massive performance out of BRELEIGH MAYER, who went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of KAYLEIGH MARTIN, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Aledo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Midway put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Klein Collins 17-5. Fans of the Panthers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Midway pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Aledo, their record now sits at 4-1.

Aledo came out on top in a nail-biter against Midway in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aledo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
