Basketball Recap: Jaylen Hewitt Key Part of a Team Effort in Rams Win

Havelock's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the D.H. Conley Vikings, sneaking past 65-62. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Vikings back in January, they had to take a 65-64 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Havelock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylen Hewitt, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points. Hewitt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chris Strong, who went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points and five boards.

Havelock was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as D.H. Conley only racked up ten assists.

D.H. Conley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shammah Cabell, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Samari Cabell, who went 5 for 6 en route to 11 points.

Havelock's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for D.H. Conley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Havelock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-68 victory against Jacksonville on the 4th. D.H. Conley has also already played their next match (against J.H. Rose), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
