Softball Game Preview: Hayes Pacers vs. Upper Arlington Golden Bears

The Hayes Pacers will square off against the Upper Arlington Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hayes comes in on 20 and Upper Arlington on four.

Hayes came out on top against Bishop Ready on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Pacers never let the Silver Knights get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pacers, who have now won 14 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Bishop Ready's batters probably weren't too happy with Bronwynn Leighty, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up two walks). Leighty has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hayes got a massive performance out of Madison Curran, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Curran has posted since back in March. Taylor Flynn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Hayes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Upper Arlington got the win against Dublin Jerome on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3.

Hayes pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Upper Arlington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
