Basketball Recap: Ariannah Smith Key Part of Team Effort in Saints Win

After losing to Family Christian the last time they met, West Feliciana decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Saints enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over the Flames on Monday. The Saints pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Flames cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Feliciana to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariannah Smith, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 16 boards. What's more, Smith posted two assists, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Sanaya Berry, who had 15 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for West Feliciana and bumps their season record up to 8-3. As for Family Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Coming up, West Feliciana won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dutchtown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Family Christian, after both having extra time off, they and Central Private will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026.
